Wonder Woman

Edna Adan Ismail.

An amazing woman who works tirelessly for the good of her people and support of women worldwide.

Her life is filled with beautiful and trying adventures and accomplishments. Some of the most noted include:

• First lady of Somalia (1967-9) and of Somaliland (1993-2002)
• WHO regional nursing manager 1986, 1991-1997
• Director and founder of the first teaching maternity hospital in the country with both nursing and midwifery programs
  
• Foreign Minister of Somaliland (2003-2006)

I am deeply honored to be here working with her and learning from her.

Today I had the great pleasure of sharing her 72nd birthday with her.
